My Fellow Passengers

For years I've asked strangers on planes to write in my journal. These are their stories.

The Archive

A collection of stories shared between strangers while flying the skies.

We can't choose what happens, but we can choose our response"

"The world can be so large, yet so small at the same time"

"Right now, I feel colorful comforting vines of acceptance wrapping around my bones"

How it Started

There is something about flying that makes us more open to connection. I noticed it years ago on a flight I can't remember to a place I've long since left. The stranger beside me was carrying a weight I couldn't see, so I passed her my journal. The courage and strength she had to write in another strangers pages, along with the hope that sharing that weight may have helped in a small way, is what inspired me to start asking for journal entries on all of my flights.

What followed was hundreds of moments of gratitude, love, grief, fear, and stories written with the handwriting of people that I will likely never see again.

A project born from the silence between words.

Be the first to hear when new stories are published.
